Tile / Mosaic

What is Tile / Mosaics Flooring?

Tile is a small, flat piece of material, such as ceramic, stone, or glass, used to cover surfaces in buildings and homes. Mosaic is a decorative technique in which small pieces of tile are arranged to create a pattern or image. The size of tile and mosaic can vary, but common sizes include 4×4 inches, 6×6 inches, and 8×8 inches. Larger tiles, such as 12×12 inches or 18×18 inches, are also available and are often used for flooring in larger spaces. Mosaic tile is often sold in sheets, with the individual tiles measuring less than 1 inch square.

Tile flooring is a popular choice for moisture-prone areas like bathrooms and kitchens. The most common tile materials are ceramic or porcelain. Tile is water-resistant, durable and comes in a variety of styles and colors.

The installation cost varies depending on the material; for instance, glazed ceramic is less expensive than porcelain tile. The average cost ranges from $5-$10  per square foot  for ceramic and porcelain tile.
